Regarding a “measure of wheat” in Revelation 6:6 (KJV), consider instead “two measures of lentils”.
To break the seal a bit, use 1/4 of an 8 o.z. cup for a measure for a meal.
A pottage meal of two measures of lentils (green or red) and three measures of barley is a good meat substitute – deficient in only a few amino acids. The addition of a hard-boiled egg removes the deficiency and makes the protein complete.
Regarding “the oil and the wine”, consider the story of Noah and the dreams of Pharaoh, the butler, and the baker in addition to their use in rituals.
As for the whole grain barley, three measures of whole grain wheat is an equal substitute.
In times of scarcity, consider also Ezekiel 4:9.
